The Very Hungry Caterpillar Toy

Image
Very Hungry Caterpillar Toy I fell in love with this concept and decided it will make a great gift for friends who are having a baby and not knowing the gender before its birth.  I got the free pattern from Ravelry created by Gillian Dite .    Learning from experience after making my first one, I discovered that it is much easier to make all the parts (eyes, antenae, feet) first and attach them to the body as you go.  I still did the yellow back yarn at the end of the project. So far, I have made three of these little guys and got the board book version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar from Walmart to give as a gift set to expecting couples! Other variations I'm looking forward to trying soon are a pink, purple, and teal "girlie" version (which obviously won't match the book, but will still be adorable) and simply adding a small rattle inside the middle section of the toy for added appeal for the little ones! Stay tuned for pictures of the ...

Very Hungry Caterpillar Hat & Cocoon

Image
There are a variety of patterns out there for similar projects as this, but I couldn't find one for the cocoon using bulky yarn.  I created this as I went and I think it turned out pretty decent.  It is intended to fit a newborn, but my little one hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't had the chance to test it out. The pattern is available at my Etsy shop - Yellow Lily Crafts .  Enjoy!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Crochet Hat

Image
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Crochet Hat I got this idea and used part of the pattern from  Crochet D Lane . I chose to use a double crochet hat pattern from Oombawka Crochet Design instead of the original half-double crochet hat base that was included by Crochet D Lane.  I simply tried it on my daughter as I went and when the sizing was right, I added 3 rounds of single crochet in the green yarn. Can't wait to get a shot of my beautiful girl reading this favorite book to her new little sister with her hat on!

Bridal Shower Petite Purses

Image
I offered to make the table decorations for my beautiful cousin Grace's bridal shower this weekend.  I pondered for a while what would look best, and came back around to the petite purse die.  Since her colors are red & gold with pink accents, here's what I came up with! I used the Petite Purse die (pg. 233) and a similar texture folder to what I used here would be Beautifully Baroque (pg. 227). Cardstock is Real Red & Pink Pirouette. Champagne Glimmer Paper (pg. 193) Pearl Basic Jewels (pg. 209) The small flower is from the Boho Blossoms punch (pg. 219)

Paper Pumpkin

One of the most common statements I hear from new stampin' customers is "I don't know where to start."  Sometimes getting into stamping can be a bit overwhelming since there are so many choices of stamps, card stock and ink colors, and other produces like punches. (And we love those coordinating punches!) Paper Pumpkin is a great way to get started!  I like to call it my little Box of Happy for the month. Here are a few of the projects that have come in a monthly kit.... Paper Pumpkin is a great way to get started and grow your stamping fun! Baby Thank Yous

Image
I am blessed to have many wonderful friends and family who helped us welcome our little bundle of joy into the world.......thus, I needed thank you cards to express our gratitude!  I made these very simple with a thank you message inside. I used Stampin' Up! melon mambo paper and ink for the baby stroller and Staz-On black for the "thanks".   Like I said, very simple but totally cute!! Unfortunately, both of the stamp sets I used are retired, but you can check out these current ones as substitutes! (All located in the 2014-2015 Stampin' Up! idea book & catalog.) Another Thank You - p. 148 Watercolor Thank You - p. 146 Something for Baby - p. 74 Celebrate Baby - p. 74 Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to order some Stampin' Up! goodies! crystalwilken@gmail.com
